Abstract

The article examines the principles of form-creation in the cycle of musical meditations «Play of Light» by the contemporary Moscow composer Viktor Ulyanich. The key object of analysis is the author's technique based on the use of color matrices, which serve as a unique compositional algorithm. The aim of the study is to identify the system of parameters encrypted in the matrices, analyze the logic of their development, and determine their role in the construction of musical dramaturgy. To demonstrate the diversity of the method's application, the opening and closing sections of the Cycle № 1 "Twinkle of the Stars" and № 4 "Moonlight" are analyzed.
